The Jewish Holiday Year.

We are in the process of adding many new pages to the site. Where a date is marked with magen david there is a link to another page explaining more about that holiday.

  • Rosh HaShanah = The New Year Festival. Work is prohibited for two days.
  • Yom Kippur = Day of Atonement. Work is prohibited.
  • Sukkot = Festival of Booths (Tabernacles). Work is prohibited for two days.
  • Shemini Atzeret = Eighth Day Closing Festival. Work is prohibited.
  • Simhat Torah = Day of Rejoicing with the Torah. Work is prohibited.
  • Hanukkah = Celebrating the Miracle of the Light that Lasted Eight Days.
  • Tu B’shvat = New Year for the Trees.
    Magen DavidPurim = Feast of Lots, reading of the Megillah of Esther.
  • Pesach = Passover Festival. Work is prohibited on the first, second, seventh and eighth days.
  • Yom HaSho'ah = Holocaust Memorial Day.
  • Yom HaAtzma'ut = Israel's Independence Day.
  • Lag B'Omer = 33rd Day of the Omer Count.
  • Shavuot = Feast of Weeks (Pentecost). Work is prohibited for two days.
  • Tisha B'Av = Fast Day Mourning the Destruction of the Temple.
